With spring cleaning time already here, many individuals will go out of their way to clean out drawers and other cabinets with d500. However, the one that usually gets overlooked is the medicine cabinet.
Many families store medications and drugs of all types in it. We see television commercials that begin with someone opening the door and looking in for something that they need. The thing is that the medicine cabinet is not where to store your medicine.
Bathrooms have a tendency to get overheated and collect moisture, which can cause medications to break down. The medicine cabinet is often overlooked as a health risk. Medications should always be stored in a cool and dry environment.
Take a look in your cabinet. How many partial or empty medication bottles do you have? What are the dates for them? Then ask yourself, “Why are these still here?” If they are outdated, you can’t use them anyway. So how do you get rid of them? Some individuals will simply flush them in the toilet. This gets rid of them from children and pets. But, is it ecologically safe? Most medicines, when combined with water, will dissolve and breakdown from be diluted. By the time they hit the waste treatment filtering system, they have already been broken down.
If you throw them away, be sure that they are still secured so that animals can dig through them in the garbage. Animals in landfills could easily find these medications as they search for food. So securing them is a necessity. It also helps to keep them away from children.
Never combine old with new medications. When medications expire, they must go. Antibiotics and even eye drops lose their effectiveness.
Cough and Cold medications, diet pills, medications for sexual purposes, and even cosmetics can be dangerous to children. Always read the labels on everything you have. Then determine where the safe place to store them should be.
Even if you don’t have children, you should keep your cabinet cleanout.
Many times when individuals get ill, they look for quick relief. The first place they go to is the medicine cabinet. In many situations, people don’t think straight. They could be half asleep, not have in their contacts, or have clouded judgment. This is why it is important to keep your medicine cabinet safe.
I have a friend who just puts tissues in their medicine cabinet. All other medications are under lock and key.
Many medicine cabinets are placed for quick and easy access. Even though they are in a well-lighted area, children will want to explore and are curious. It is just their way. That is why you must trash items.
